During the transport of float glass, adhesive forces and chemical reactions can cause the panes to stick together so strongly that they cannot be separated again later on. Furthermore, transportation or storage creates a risk of glass surface corrosion. Chemetall´s innovative interleavant powders can effectively counter adhesion or scratching of panes as well as surface corrosion.

  • AC Separol LAC is an interleaving powder based on polystyrene and boric acid (50 % percent by weight). The used basic polymer has a medium particle size of ca. 60 μm. AC Separol LAC is an interleaving powder for production of laminated glass. It is used instead of the spacers normally used to separate the glass in the autoclave. It is typically applied when producing architectural glass with identical formats. At the same time it acts as an interleavant powder after production. The product contains additives which protects the glass against corrosion. The removal of the interleaving powder after the autoclave process and the additional application of an acid mixed interleaving powder for transport is therefore not necessary. The recommended application rate is 400 - 600 mg/m².

  • When handling the product the use of safety gloves and a dust mask is recommended. For further safety advice please see our Material Safety Data Sheet. Stored in well-closed containers at temperatures between 5 to 40 °C AC Separol LAC has a shelf life of minimum 1 year.

  • AC Separol LAC is spread evenly onto the glass surface by help of a commercially available powder applicator. Due to the smaller distance between the glasses the conditions in the autoclave should be adapted accordingly (please contact supplier of autoclave). The applicability of the products for the individual process conditions has to be proved by means of a suitable test.
